It's not magically going to change it to a honda transmission (my stock '94 Prelude felt nicer to change than my '06 WRX even with the kit), but it's a noticeable improvement over stock. Dealer price and inventory are currently unavailable. Tbh, I've just assumed all kits work the same way, at least the ones made by reputable companies.ĮDIT: I should also say I'm really pleased I did it. The height of the stick remains the same, as does its (centre) position - the distance it travels between gears reduces because it has to travel a shorter distance to move the gear linkage the same distance. It means you get the same amount of linkage movement for a smaller amount of movement of the top of the stick - effectively shortening the ratio of stick:linkage movement from 5:1 to 3:1 (numbers very much guesstimated, I've not really done the measurement or maths). The GFB short shift kit moves the connection point between the gear stick and gear linkage further up the stick. The included Reverse Lockout is CNC machined from 6061 and anodized for a vibrant and durable finish. We also designed our Short Shifter to be more comfortable and ergonomic than others (no hitting your hand on the e-brake handle when shifting into second).
Also curious as to what others have tried and their experiences. Our Short Shifter features the shortest shifts compared to all other 2015+ WRX Short Shifters on the market. Can't compare to stock, but it's definitely short throws to get into the gear you want. The top aftermarket brands offer both quicker shifts and better shifting feel.

Depending on your tastes, preferences, and model of vehicle, you can upgrade your stock shifter to an aftermarket model with little to no effort. I had the STI short throw shifter pre installed in my WRX limited. Short throw shifters can be upgraded and customized.
